Who We Are

Rooted in the village, at home in Finland.

Gaule Ry was founded by Nepalese youth studying in Finland who saw the need for a network to help each other navigate life in a new country. Our name, gaule, points back to our roots — the rural, unguarded spirit of home.

Over the years our purpose has grown alongside our members:

  • Foster community integration
  • Promote Nepalese culture and values
  • Provide social and professional support
  • Encourage youth in sport and community action
  • Take part in charitable initiatives, at home and in Nepal

Our Journey

From a kickabout among friends to a community.

01
2010

Gaule Ry is founded by the first Nepalese students in Finland — a group of friends who started by playing football together.

02
2018

We launch the annual 7-a-side Football Tournament in Helsinki, drawing more than ten teams from across Finland.

03
2020

Alongside Captain Vijay Lama and the "Nyanopan" initiative, we help fund 130 mid-day meals for children in Nepal.

04
Today

Gaule Ry keeps growing as a platform for the Nepalese community — through sport, culture, and projects with real impact.

You can move to a new country, but you don't have to leave your village behind — you just build a new one, together.

What We Do

Three ways we show up for each other.

Football

The FC Gaule tournament is our biggest gathering of the year — a hub for Nepalese culture, unity and camaraderie as much as competition.

  • Local leagues and friendly matches
  • Regular practice sessions
  • Annual 7-a-side tournament in Helsinki

Community & Charity

We give back to those who need it most, both here in Finland and back home in Nepal.

  • Supporting new Nepalese students in Finland
  • Fundraising drives for charitable campaigns
  • Collaborations with initiatives like Nyanopan

Culture & Events

We keep Nepalese traditions alive in Finland through celebration, performance and gathering.

  • Celebrating Nepalese festivals in Finland
  • Passing on traditions and heritage
  • Cultural performances and exhibitions
